Battambang Museum is located next to the Steung Sangke River on the western side of Kampong Krobey Village, Svay Por Commune, Battambang District, approximately 300 meters north of Battambang Provincial Hall. Visitors can walk to the museum. It is based at X: 304646, Y: 1448339.
The museum was built in 1968 in traditional Khmer style and was inaugurated by King Norodom Sihanouk. It is located along the Steung Sangke River on Road No. 01, facing the east.
Battambang Museum has a fairly large courtyard with a car park and a garden full of beautiful flowers. Inside the building, there are numerous antiquities with artistic values including religious architectural artwork and paintings. Most of the antiquities are statues, sculptures, stone remains from temples and some of the remains can back traced back to the pre-historical period. On the veranda many paintings and pictures are displayed. Visitors can sit down and relax by the fishpond, and read in the fresh and calm atmosphere.
