Wat Damrei Sor is one of the oldest pagodas in Battambang Province. It is located on Road No. 3 in Kampong Krobey Village, Svay Por Commune, Battambang Disitrict, south of Battambang Provincial Hall. It is based at X: 304530, Y: 1448336.
Wat Damrei Sor was built in 1904. In the past, there was a big elephant house east of the monastery. From the past to the present it has been a sacred place for officials and common people to pray to have their wishes fulfilled, based on their beliefs. In addition to this, there are also many songs written related to memories of this pagoda.
On the pagoda grounds, there is a large courtyard and a junior high school named after the pagoda. In the monastery, there is a huge Buddhist statue believed to be sacred. On the occasion of Khmer New Year, people both near and afar like to come and celebrate at the pagoda. The monastery is made of luxurious wood with bas-reliefs on the gables and windows.
